Inky Blue Inspiration

Written by , Posted in Interior Inspiration, Palette

I’ve always loved dark rich blues, navy blue is most definately my favourite colour of all time, ever since I was a kid. We’ve been choosing paint colours for our store ‘The Chevron Pony’ which will be opening later this year, and have decided to paint one of the rooms a deep inky blue hue, which I am really itchy to see. I thought I might share a little of the inspiration behind the decision, enjoy.

Coffee Table Tray Styling Inspiration

Written by , Posted in Interior Inspiration

After my previous post where I rounded up my favourite coffee table trays, which you can see here. I thought i’d follow up with a few inspirational images of well styled coffee tables featuring trays.

If you have a subscription to one of your favourite magazines, why not choose to display them instead of books, they work just as well.

The tray above also acts as a drip tray for burning candles, if you’re going to do this make sure the wax isn’t going to ruin the finish of the tray first.

Why not move the fruit bowl from the kitchen bench, who knows might encourage the kids (or yourself) the eat a little more fruit.

Small succulents, terrariums and domes help add a bit of life and greenery to the vignette, perfect if you don’t exactly have a green thumb.

A round tray will help soften a space, consider this if you find you have a lot of hard straight lines in your room.

A mirrored tray would help to reflect and bounce light about the space.

If you have an ottoman or trunk like above, you may not want to over style your tray, but take a more practical approach with perhaps just a couple of books and coasters, unless you have a side table handy to place mugs and  drinking glasses.

An easy rule in creating a great vignette is to go monochrome (like above) or stick to 2-3 colours in your palette.

Our New Sofa from West Elm

Written by , Posted in Life, Shopping

I have been in love with the Chester Tufted Sofa from West Elm for quite a while now, if you can recall I posted a little while a go about missing out on the same sofa being on final clearance at West Elm Australia but in an Oatmeal colour. I had no idea that this piece in beautiful ink blue velvet had been made available in Australia, so when I stumbled upon it and saw that it had been reduced by almost $600.00, there was no way I was going to miss out again.

Take it all in every body, this handsome thing is coming home and is going to look perfect in our new home, we are to move into later in the year.

We thought we might have an issue, or at least be a bit out of pocket with having it delivered to our current address, as it is so remote. But according to West Elm Australia’ shipping information, delivery charges are based on the price of the sale, plus a little assembly fee for larger furniture pieces which I thought was quite reasonable.

There are plenty of other great pieces reduced to up to 70% over at West Elm Australia in their Furniture Flea Sale, check them out here.

Coffee Table Tray Round Up

Written by , Posted in Shopping, The Round Up

I am a huge believer in using trays to style pretty much everything, from dressers, to book shelves. They can be used to break up a large surface, corral items and to add an extra layer, colour, pattern or texture to what ever it is you’re styling. Today I am looking at coffee table trays and have rounded up a few of my favourites for you to have a look.

If you’re using an ottoman as your coffee table, a tray is a must, as it will provide a hard surface which is both practical and functional and also allow you to display your favourite books, magazines, flowers, souvenirs, and anything else that you might light to have out on display.

When shopping for a table tray to to style your coffee table, make sure you take measurements of your surface, as you will want it to fit nicely with a little edge remaining, you don’t want the tray to come to the edge of your table or to be too small and not have any function or weight in the room.

Don’t Worry I am Alive!

Written by , Posted in Life

Hello all! Those of you who check in regularly would know i’ve been MIA for the past month, sorry for that. I’ve made a promise to myself that i’ll try to get back into the swing of things sooner rather than later. I’ve been quite busy making plans for The Chevron Pony, but really i’ve probably spent more time procrastinating and over thinking minor details than anything, then of course there was Christmas and New Years. I hope you all had a great time celebrating with your loved ones, I certainly did!

Anyway it is in fact my birthday in a couple of days, so I thought i’d share with you a few things I am hoping to receive this year.
